Parts list for emonTX

Here is a little back ground. I am an electrical engineering technologist student who is doing the home energy monitor for my senior project, based on the design from the open energy monitor website. I chose to go with the emonTX and the nanode-RF base station, due to the limits of our schools production abilities needing to be through hole. The nanode-RF is going to be purchased from this website but due to the rules of my project i need to make one of the PCB boards and order the parts on my own. The PCB layout and parts are provided here http://solderpad.com/openenergymon/emontx/, however can someone help me with a more detailed parts list. For example what wattage rating is the resistors for the emonTX and any other pertinent information needed to order the right parts.

As a electrical engineering student, can't you determine the component wattage/voltage etc yourself via the schematic (Ohms Law)??

Engineering is all about foreseeing problems and planning. You need to get your engineering brain working and check that your chosen parts will fit mechanically too.

Re: Parts list for emonTX

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I would like to point out that I am a technologist student (2 year course) in Canada, not sure what the equivalent is in the UK or the rest of the world. That being said i am very familiar with Ohms law. Maybe the resistor wattage was not the best example. I would say it's a 1/4 W just based on the size. What i am looking for is serial numbers so I can make for certain that the parts i order will be exactly what was used in the design.

Re: Parts list for emonTX

The capacitors and resistors shouldn't be a problem. Things like the 2.1mm Power Socket and 3.5mm Jack Sockets would be helpful.

I've assembled several emonTx V2.2 PCBs with oddball components from different sources, and they've all worked!

Well surely the 2.1mm Power Socket and 3.5mm Jack Sockets will depend upon your PCB layout (which only you know - you are making it), as the main consideration with those 2 items is the mechanical, not electrical characteristics as per the post above from Robert.

Last post from me!
