EmonTX v3 Stops Transmitting (but keeps reading data)

Hi all,

I bought an EmonTX v3 the other day, and to start with it worked great. However, in the last few days it has developed a habit of working fine for a while and then refusing to send more data. Only a reset seems to start it transmitting again.

I've been monitoring my base station (Raspberry Pi with expansion board), which seems to receive data from an EmonTH just fine, so I know that's not the problem. I've also tried adding extra serial.print messages in the sketch to work out what's happening, but it doesn't seem to help - the unit will keep printing values to serial even after it stops transmitting.

Is there anything else I can try? Or will I have to return it? I've sent an email to the support team, but haven't had anything back yet, and I haven't found anything which fixes the issue in the forums yet.

Thanks for any help!

Re: EmonTX v3 Stops Transmitting (but keeps reading data)

Does the LED activity change on the emonTx ? if the led pulses with successful transmissions and continues when the transmissions are no longer received that could point to an issue with the RFM12B or range/interference/collisions etc.

Have you tried temporarily moving the Pi and Tx closer together and stopping the TH just to rule out range/interference/collisions etc?

Re: EmonTX v3 Stops Transmitting (but keeps reading data)

I'm powering the emonTx from batteries (I thought they could be running out at first, and tried replacing them), so the LED doesn't flash on each reading normally. However, debug messages continue being printed after the Pi stops receiving data from the Tx.

I haven't tried switching off the TH (I'll give it a go when I'm home from work), but have played around with moving the Pi and Tx closer together. This setup was working for about a week before the Tx stopped the first time, so I can't see it being a range issue. Also, when I was trying to fix this to start with, I had my Pi in the same room as my PC while trying to debug the Tx.
