SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

 Hi Guys,

So I have CMS3 installed on a Ubuntu Server 12.04 (32bit) LAMP machine. All is working well except I am inable to create a dashbord. When I click the + sign, the server returnes nothing.

Any ideas? I have looked into the PHP Suhosin module altho am unable to find the configuration file at /etc/php5/conf.d/suhosin.ini Not even sure this is the problem.

Any help is most appreciated.

Loving the interphase! Looking good Dev team!

Regards,

Mike Christiansen

Hello Mike, sorry for a late reply, not sure what is causing the issue, can you inputs and feeds?

What is PHP Suhosin?

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

I am having the same problem.

Clicking the create dashboard plus sign does nothing. Weird thing is that it used to work.. I created a couple of dashboards a week or so ago, deleted them a couple of days ago, and now I cannot create new ones.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

Edit 1: The error log at /var/log/apache2/error.log shows nothing.

Edit 2: and now it's working. I haven't done anything except looking around in the source code to find the cause of the problem. Slightly disturbing,,,

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

I have found that the create dashboard plus sign only works in Firefox on my MacBook and not with any other browser. I can't get it to work on my PC with IE8 either.

So to create a new dashboard I use Firefox but it has other problems with other controls later in the process (for instance Save doesn't work which is a pain when you've spent some time creating a new dashboard) so I shut it down and do the other work on that dashboard in Safari! It's not great but it works on my setup.

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

Glad I'm not the only one!

Just to confirm, for me:

Safari v6 can't create a dashboard, but appears to be able to edit

Firefox v15.0.1 can create.

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

Confirmed here: On latest OSX with latest browser versions, Firefox and Chrome can create dashboards, but not edit them.

Safari cannot create dashboards, but it can edit them.

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

Testing on Ubuntu in both Firefox 15.0.1 and Chrome  14.0.835.163 adding new dashboards, editing, saving works fine.

Do any of you see anything in javascript console log window?

Could you also try running setup.php manually again, does anything show up there? You will need to uncommet $runnable in the top of the setup.php script.

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

I have replicated this bug in Internet Explorer and have been able to fix it, (a variable (path) was not accessible to the whole script as is the case with chrome and firefox). I have uploaded the changes to emoncms.org and github. https://github.com/openenergymonitor/emoncms3

The trash button is still giving me trouble, not sure why. I can also see that none of the dials work :( and only some of the graphs..(in internet explorer only)

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

Oops I had compatibility mode on in internet explorer 9, with it off everything works!! So emoncms now works for me in chrome and firefox and internet explorer 9, including dashboard editor, view and visualizations. The only bug seems to be the trash button.

Re: SOLVED - Cms3 - Cannot create dashboard

Fails for me in Safari, Chrome, Firefox

Still seeing issues on my system with latest drop from Git. Running latest MAMP on OSX Lion. Dashboard create fails in Chrome and Safari, succeeds in Firefox. Delete fails in Chrome but succeeds in Safari and Firefox.
