new emonTX pcb

 Hi all,

i have a problem with a new emonTX that i finish(most) this days.

-i use the new emonTX pcb (buy it mounth ago)
-complete it but with out AC-AC components on it (just ct1 and ct2)
-i use it with out AC-AC adaptor (obviously)
-use the CT1 interface
-clip it on the phase(not on null) cable of the power grid
-program it with the emonT singleCT example (i use arduino 1.0)
-i use the arduino 1.0 framework

On the zero consum, the monitor give me 0 or 1 or 2 values
If i turn on the flatiron (2000 watts) the monitor give me 8 value

Is there anybody can help me please ?
Thanks all in advance
Denis

p.s. this famous burder resistor is allready on the pcb ? or i must add it ?

Re: new emonTX pcb

Somthing is wrong. Could you post a photo of your emonTx board? That way I can check it all look correct. It should look like this: https://picasaweb.google.com/113226203437598291129/EmonTxV20SingleCTBuild#5670751021382405762

Re: new emonTX pcb

CT1 and CT2 channels look like they have been assembled Ok. The the colours on the voltage divider resistors R2 and R3 for channel CT 2 look a bit odd but I think its just a different shade of violet. They should be 470K which is yellow, violet, yellow, gold/silver. If in doubt you can always check the resistance with a multimeter.

The image on the page details which components do what: http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/node/234

CT3 is missing the 15 ohm burden resistor and 10uF capacitor. But CT1 and CT2 should still work.

So basicly it should work OK. Can you post a photo of how you have clipped the CT round the AC cable? and maybe a shot of the underside of the board?

Re: new emonTX pcb

Thanks again for the help

...so here is the other side: (click on it to see it biger ...i hope:-)

here is the clip picture ... and please can you confirm me the pinout of the AC-AC adaptor if is ok like this ?

and here is again all ... i just begin to put also the AC-AC part:

Thanks again

Re: new emonTX pcb

What you are doing wit the AC-AC adapter is very dangerous. You should get a proper UK to European plug converter before testing.

The emonTx build look ok. Try again uploading the emonTx single CT example and using the middle (CT2) connection.

Re: new emonTX pcb

 Dear Glyn,

now i'm finish the AC-AC adaptor part and i just test it with a 1500 watts

and i just program the emonTX_1CT_Voltage file ... here is the result:

emonTx single CT AC voltage real power example

I take near 1500 watts but is just 1290 watts
Please tell me what i must change in the source in order to make it work corectly

Thanks again

Re: new emonTX pcb

Ah, that looks like it's working better now. Which country do you live? Is your AC voltage 210V?

Calibrating the emonTx is discussed here: http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/node/330
