Question about AC-AC adapter verses CT sensor

Hi

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere --- but can an AC-AC power adapter be used instead of a CT sensor, eg. if I had the AC-AC adapter, could I use this for measuring power consumption to start with, without having to also add a CT sensor? Or is the idea that it supplements the data from the CT sensor to give a more accurate picture?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Question about AC-AC adapter verses CT sensor

Sorry - I think I've probably answered my own question. The AC-AC adapter measures voltage, and the CT sensor measures current --- so together they give a more accurate value for power. If I just use the CT sensor, then assumed values for voltage etc. are used and things are less accurate --- is that a reasonable interpretation?

Thanks!

Tom

Correct. You can read all about it in Building Blocks.
