As a total newbie to this kind of stuff can you suggest some essential tools and a starter kit to help me get up to speed before starting on my first OEM kit.
I'm a Mech Eng with many years in IT mainly networks, but some coding.
I have a temperature controlled soldering iron - solder sucker - cutters - pliers ...
I have plenty of networking stuff, crimping tools, wires etc.
Also building up a collection of dead electronics stuff for spare bits including failed boiler control boards from a plumbing friend. So I can practice soldering.
What tools & starter kit ?
