i dont understand what the ac-ac adapter can do for the emontx shield, where can i get one used in Australia

Re: emontx shield

The AC-AC adapter measures the mains voltage and provides a means of measuring real power. Here's what I think you need: http://www.idealpower.co.uk/external-power-supply-plug-in-acac-linear-adapters-aust-240v-ac-50hz-6va-9v-ac-77ds-06-09-i20290.html  It's the Australian equivalent to the stock item in the shop.

Re: emontx shield

i have look at the website you provided, i found some that have 9v voltage output, but i did not find the exact one that has 6VA as you found. so do i really need to buy the 6VA one or what about 10VA one.

Re: emontx shield

in addtion as you mentioned before this shiled is able to measure the main power is it able to measure home electronic device power consumption such as TV, lamp...

Re: emontx shield

The 10 VA adapter should be OK, though I have only tested and measured the one in the report.

The shield with the standard 100 A current transformer does not have great accuracy at very low levels of current because the ADC is only 10 bits wide. The minimum current you can read with moderate accuracy is about 1% of the full scale reading, so about 1 A (equivalent to about 250 W power). Below that, readings become increasingly inaccurate.

Re: emontx shield

i am going to use it to measure the current at least 8A since my project is high voltage so i think it should be fine
