EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Can't get my image of the EMonCMS working. I downloaded the version from the torrent, formatted the SD card and loaded the image on with WinDiskImager. However when the Pi boots up I get a PHP warning (as shown in the image attached)

php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: temporary failure

Does anyone have any idea why?

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

silly question, did you connect the pi to your lan ?

And if so, are you running a dhcp server ?

Looks like it is trying to sync the time with the emoncms.org server and failing to get the ethernet address for your pi and/or failing the dns resolution

ahah - could be it - it's not connected to the internet at all yet. I'll try that!

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Doh - that was it. it has got me through to the login point now, however the username / password I've found gives me an incorrect login?

Trying it connected directly to the TV with UN= raspi: and password = raspberry I get an incorrect login message?

I have tried putting the PI's IP address directly into a browser to access it that way (192.168.0.7) but it comes back as "could not connect to the webpage"

Any tips for the next stage? what obvious step have I missed?

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Where did you get the PI address from? From router DHCP table?

Try to "ping" it first and see if it responds from your pc. "ping 192.168.0.7"
Don't know what to test next... make sure you power up the PI while it is connected to the LAN and you should see its IP address in the router DHCP table.
Alternatively you could use a IP scanning utility to scan your network and detect newly connected devices. If you want I can suggest some.

hope it helps

bye

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Thanks Scarlaz,

Have got it semi-fixed now! was trying the wrong PI (we have two), so managed to get the right one by IP and then login OK - although without the : on the username.

Still having problems logging directly into the PI through the TV screen though. I try

emoncmspi login : raspi

password: raspberry

and still no joy - is there a different password for direct login?

Yes, username is pi, default pass is raspberry ...

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Just downloaded the ready to use image and the username pi and password raspberry does not work.  Any ideas what it should be?  I tried root and blank password.

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Taken from http://emoncms.org/site/docs/raspberrypigateway under recommended steps:

The default username and password is 'root' and root'

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Nope... root & root does not work.

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

Just to be clear, I am trying to log into the web interface, not via SSH although I have now tried SSH and the instructions listed do not work either.

[edit] pi & raspberry work from SSH but not from the web interface.

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

I'm having the same issue as borpin123.  I get to the emoncms login screen on the rPi but there is no option to register.  Also the "guide", "Develop" and "Server status" buttons are missing up on the top horizontal nav bar.

This was the image zip file I downloaded: emoncmspiv5avr0205_13.zip (770.9MB)

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

see my other thread - use raspi & raspberry.  Suggest you do an update before you are up and running.

Re: EMonCMS Pi Login failing

you're running the 'old' emoncmspi SD card image not the new 'gateway' image. The default ssh login is user 'pi' and password 'raspberry'. The default emoncms login (for the web interface) is user 'raspi' and password 'raspberry'

I have updated the documentation with user name and password and note at the top to explain the difference between the new and old image: http://emoncms.org/site/docs/raspberrypiimage
