emonTx and emonLCD

Hi!

Just finished assembling newly arrived emonTx and emonGLCD kits.

Sad statistics:

emonTx has the correct voltage, no visible assembly flaws but is not responding to programmer

emonGLCD is programmed ok but LCD screen started with low contrast with vertical bands and now looks completely blank and dead although sometimes shows the barely visible correct picture for a second and then slowly fades back away.

As I read forums I see a lot of people get similar problems. Do you have any troubleshooting tips or replacement programs in case there were defected parts?

Thank you.

Re: emonTx and emonLCD

Check all the resistor values. I got the 10K and 100K swapped over (didn't have my glasses handy) and had similar results to start with. Difficult to change once the LCD is soldered in though.

Try re-flowing LCD connections

Re: emonTx and emonLCD

I was pretty careful while assembling boards and double-checked everything then and now again. No obvious faults found. all the soldered connections look nice, no shorts, no loose connections. Any ideas how to  troubleshoot emonTx?

Have you tried swapping the chips?

Re: emonTx and emonLCD

Yes, I have an Arduino UNO. The chip from emonTx is succesfully programmed inside UNO. CP2102 is also ok, it works with emonGLCD.
