I have emoncms installed, and working as it should, with appreciation to everyone here who helped with that.
I understand about the inputs, and I can use them to set up feeds and log the data, nowhere near what emoncms is capable of but it is a start. I also understand that these inputs are updated, as they receive data from the monitoring setup, and once the inputs are updated the feeds from those inputs are updated.
What I don't understand is how to set up, and update, "independent" inputs and have the data saved to feeds. I know I could use and modify some inputs from the monitoring setup that are sent without monitored data, but at some point in the future I would hope to monitor for that input, so I wanted an independent input. I set it up, and it seemed like it would work. But I can't know because it won't generate any data because it never is updated.
So would somebody set up a different script or batch file program to send the independent inputs data, which I would think would be 0 for each input, to emoncms on a regular basis? And would sending this independent data possibly interfere with emoncms receiving the data it is supposed to receive from the monitoring setup?
