New emoncms on Pi reports happily to emoncms.org but unable/v difficult to access locally

I appreciate that this could be a lan problem (dns?) but really struggling to access new Pi with std firmware locally.

I have 2 Pi running 1 hardwired to lan with no access problems. The other is wifi. However the wifi connection is perfect in every way and the connection has been up for 2 days without loss. Data is sent to Emoncms.org no problem but local access through browser is very difficult. Sometimes I can ping (even when browser won't load it) and other times I can't. A dozen or so refreshes and I might get in!

Any ideas?

Are they both using the same hostname???

If you are accessing from a windows machine they can get a bit confused by multiple devices claiming to the same hostname. If you open a admin-elevated command prompt and run IPConfig /flushDNS it should free up the hostname allocation. I have a batch file on my desktop for this as it is a regular issue on all my windows machines.

The best option by far though, is to make sure all devices have a unique hostname.

Accessing from Mac via ip address. However safari resolves as 192.168.0.113/emonscms/ and 192.168.0.87/emonscms/

Typo? i.e. emonscms vice emoncms

yes typo. Not being fully up to speed on this stuff will those 2 cause problems accessing? Particularly if trying to access both at the same time in different browser windows?

I'm not sure what you're asking here.

Particularly if trying to access both at the same time in different browser windows?

Accessing both at the same time, in different browser windows, should not be a problem.
