Hello,
as the title says I'm not able to register any new user apart from the first one (admin) because the "or register" option disappears from the login page.
Some more info:
The host is a VPS with Debian Jessie 64 bit, I've already installed successfully several previous versions of emoncms and I've already double-double checked the installation steps.
After deleting and re-creating the emoncms db I can again register the first user.
I've already tried some solutions to similar problems documented in this forum but with no luck.
I get no errors in the browser console.
Any clue?

Sounds obvious, but have you have set the "$enable_multi_user = false;" to true in settings.php?

Aaargh!!
Shame on me.
In the past I installed so many times the emoncms server that this time I didn't bother to check if there were new settings in the settings.php file (previously I was using ver. 8.4).
Thank you very much for your "obvious" tip that hit the mark. Sorry for not being able to find it by myself.

I don't think you are the first or will be the last to get caught out.
I believe it has been there for sometime but it's default setting has been changed, so it probally slipped in under the radar as it's not really a new setting.
