IrDA emonTx v2 R8 resistor

Hi,

Does anyone know if you need the resistor R8 when using the TSL261R for IrDA reading?

The source of that sort of information is the device data sheet. The Test Circuit (Fig.1) quite clearly shows the output is equivalent to an operational amplifier, so no pull-up/pull-down resistor is needed. But note what Fig.7 says about the linear operation at low voltages.
