Hi..

 

i'm trying to set up my input processing... is the kwh/d removed? or does the graphs do that directly?

Yes the kwh/d processor is removed on the low write version of emoncms. Do you want to link to old data or are you starting from scratch?

i have started a few hours ago and would like to use the old data... 

 

but do you mean the my electric ? i want to have a graph on the public dashboards also... 

 

but also need to correct my sketch as my heat meter can have a flow of up to 400 L/hr and now getting negative numbers back from the node...

 

but can i put back the kwh/d or do i have to go to the sd+hdd image after all?

dooh... or do i just create a feed that acc. the kwh... then create a bargraph and set interval to d... and delta to 1?

kWh to kWh/d input processors are available in the input processer's dropdown list, but I haven't had any joy getting them to actually work. They resulting feed value stubbornly remains at zero.

The workaround discussions have centred around using graphs to get at the daily data, but I'm trying to use kWh/d feed values in my dashboard.

Perhaps the histogram process is the answer - I haven't spotted any documentation on how to use this process.

Is anyone else confused - or is it just me :)

No

kWh to kWh/d input processors are available in the input processer's dropdown list, but I haven't had any joy getting them to actually work. They resulting feed value stubbornly remains at zero.

Could you please give us your complete process list for that input. Just to make sure that you'r using the correct process. Kwh to kWh/d must apply to a kWh input. Instead you can use the Power to kWh/d process (if the input is a power or the Wh increments to kWh/d process ( if the input is a non accumulated Wh, comming from a pulse counter by example)

Did you notice that this has artificially centered the bars ? See my last comment here

Well, there is big lack of documentation on EmonCMS. Some new features are not documented. Some older features are documented but out of date, ... According to me, it must be fixed ASAP. Otherwise, beginners (but also people who wants to maintain their server) will give it up quickly.

Ok - kWh/d should work on emoncms.org - good to know I'm not wasting my time! Thank you for confirming.

I can't work out how to get a screenshot embedded within a post and I've never learned imgbam to link it externally, so here's the lo-fi text version of my bothersome input.

Order | Process | arg | feedvalue

5. | kWh to kWh/d | Node 10:4: HWC Wh - kWhd | (feedvalue 0.00)

6. | Histogram | Node 10:4: HWC Wh - hist | (feedavalue: 250)

The input is an incrementing Wh counter which resets to zero, nightly. It represents the amount of power diverted to our hot water cylinder, care of Robin Emley's excellent Mk2 PV router.

So far *today*, we're only up to 34Wh - that's correct. I use the Wh accumulator process, as my input resets nightly. Next I convert from Wh to kWh, and then log that as a testing checkpoint to ensure that the numbers are looking correct (kWh) That growing kWh figure is then feed to the kWh to kWh/d process, which reads zero? That's the problem. And finally I was trying Histogram in desperation.

Have you spotted my logic error?? I haven't :(

I haven't noticed any bars yet, but I have to get this initial foundation data working first before graduating to the dashboards. So far my dashboard efforts have been more based around numeric feedvalues or feed gauges - not so much graphs, but I count myself forewarned - thanks!

 

As for documentation - couldn't agree more. I love the promise of this platform, and once I get it all up and running I'll be making a donation, and perhaps even trying to help with some of the documentation efforts myself!

well i found a work arround for the low write...

 

of course i have a feed for watt... then i have an power to kwh that  let accumulate..

 

on the graph i use a bar graph and set the interval to what i want... i have one for kwd each day and one for each hour.

i use the same idea for water... one pulse is one liter so i just count up the pulses...

Hi Griffous,

Some months ago, I also had difficulties in making the kWh to Kwh/d process work. I found a dirty workaround. I replaced that process by two processes : kWh to Power + Power to kWh/d.  It works fine.

Today, I'm not sure that you really need to have a kWh/d feed. It depends what you want to show in your dashboard :

- If you want to plot a bargraph with the kWh/d, you just need a kWh feed. The graph will calculate the kWh/d value itself. You can also have the kWh per month and year.

- if you want to show the value of the kWh diverted "today", you can just put the feed value of your input (after scaling)

Similar to you, I did find a work-around for one of my data feeds. The 'increment to kWh/d' process seems to be working correctly, so I suspect there is something amiss with just this one 'kWh to kWh/d' process.

I have had a play with bargraphs on my dashboard, and I can get daily kWh/d numbers represented using the methods discussed across the forum posts. That's a good start, but I was hoping to use feedvalue counters in my dashboard to simply and clearly display today's power figures; it's nice to see how we're tracking in realtime for the day too.

In a related topic - there is also a long-standing locale issue, whereby "daily" starts and finishes at 11am in this part of the world. This means that my feedvalue counters were of limited value anyway when using the online emoncms.org platform, but I hasten to add that a local install works correctly - its timezone/midnight matches the user.

 

So "daily kWh" is a clearly in something of a transition at the moment. I don't suppose we could get a blog post, or a 'sticky', clearly summarising what is working, what isn't, how to work around it, and what the future direction of "daily" will be, both with respect to timezone awareness, and also for low writes, which instead relies on an ever-incrementing feed.

For new users - this really is non-intuative - we just need a bit of guidance as the platform evolves.

I think I understood the new method to make daily consumtion. But what about weekly / monthly?

I guess that for weekly I have to put 86400 * 7 interval, but am I sure that it will start on monday?

For monthly, the number of day per month is not always the same, so I guess that if it is not implemented, we cannot get it precisely.
