Hardware sensor for Italy

Hi.

I'm new on OpenEnergyMonitor, and I'm starting looking for something which could monitor my energy consumption.

I live in Italy, so I'm looking for a sensor which I can use which OpenEnergyMonitor and which could be installed on an Italian energy meter (this one http://soldielavoro.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/lettura-contatore-enel-online.jpg).

I'd like to use the digital led, not something I have to put around the cables.

Could you help me please?

Thank you very much!
Bye.

Hello!

I'm italian too. I suggest to read about pulse counting.

All what you need is on openenergymonitor website.

The italian "contatore enel" power meter has two pulsing red led. "Ra" for active power and "Rr" for reactive power. Usually they counts 1000 pulses per kWh. You can read it on the label.

You can find an interesting reading at this link too:

even if i suggest you to use emonTX v3 + raspberriPI base station as final complete solution. It's not so difficult put current transformers around cables. In this way you can also know flowing direction of energy (if you have a PV power plant).

Re: Hardware sensor for Italy

I do not have any information about your meter, but 'g_mascolo' mentions an important point about counting pulses. If your meter is like the ones used in the UK, it will only flash the LED on imported energy. When exporting or idle, the LED does not flash. If you do not have PV or another way of generating, that is not a problem. But if you do have your own generation, then you need to use current transformers and monitor the voltage so that you know the direction that power is flowing.

Thank you very much for your answers!

I don't have a generation of energy at the moment, so I could use the flash LED.

I will check, thank you again!

Bye

Re: Hardware sensor for Italy

In the picture in the page http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/ I see that emonTx has connected a LED inpulse sensor, but I cannot find it in the modules list (http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/Modules).

Could you help me to understand better, please?

Re: Hardware sensor for Italy

There is no complete "module". You must buy the sensor kit from the shop http://shop.openenergymonitor.com/components/ and make a suitable mounting to fix it in the best position in front of your meter.

You can find the technical information for connecting your sensor in Building Blocks and Github.
