Node-RED a visual tool for wiring the IoT (with examples using OEM hardware)

Hi folks, I was trawling the InterWeb as you do - actually wondering about the MQTT protocol and Arduino and came across this very interesting visual tool for wiring the IoTs and Dom Bramley's blog explaining how to use it with Jeelink and EmonTH.

Here is the Node-RED site -> http://nodered.org/

And here is Dom's Blog -> https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/B-Fool/entry/home_automation_with_node_red_jeenodes_and_the_oen_energy_monitor_project?lang=en

I've been lurking for a couple of years reading all the amazing things that people are doing with the technology and had always thought that something like MQTT and a visual interface for linking up my PV data and heating control would be ideal. Maybe this is a way forward also with something like IFTTT.

Given Glyn's recent blog about hooking up his heating would Node-RED be a way to set things up?

Anyone seen other solutions out there?
